Jennifer is an Orthodox Christian, wife, homeschooling mother, classical teacher, and artist. Jennifer has completed the CiRCE Apprenticeship program as a CiRCE certified Classical Teacher and has been teaching classically since 2009 in a variety of settings, including homeschooling her children, local humanities and art classes throughout the homeschool community, and online writing and literature classes at the CiRCE Academy. Jennifer aligns herself with the belief that “Classical Education is the cultivation of wisdom and virtue by nourishing the soul on truth, goodness, and beauty by means of the seven liberal arts and the four sciences.” Jennifer has devoted herself to researching, writing about, and teaching moms how to teach, study, and pursue wisdom and virtue in their homeschools.
Jennifer’s favorite things to study are Literature, church and educational history, Greek philosophy, and fine arts. Her favorite literary works are Beowulf, Tale of Two Cities, and Plato’s Dialogues; and her favorite quote is “A poem cannot be about everything.” by Wendell Berry.
Jennifer Speaks About
Classical Education from both a big picture/theoretical perspective as well as a down to earth/practical perspective. Jennifer knows that we learn best when we participate in the learning process, therefore, whenever possible, she invites her listeners into the topic through a friendly hands-on learning experience.
Jennifer believes with all confidence that the Christian Classical Liberal Arts Tradition is meant to play a huge part in the salvation our souls, families, and communities. She is convinced that it is not out of reach to ‘Seek first the Kingdom of God’ in education and believes that homeschool moms are real teachers and should have excellent opportunities to cultivate themselves in the art of teaching. These beliefs serve as the inspiration for her writing, research, and teaching. Her workshops and speaking topics focus on what classical education is, why it is such a big deal, how to make is work in the homeschool.
Jennifer helps to draw out and put words to the questions that are simmering in all our minds. Jennifer has helped countless homeschooling moms gain an understanding of authentic classical education, the classical liberal arts, and the more specific topics of ‘How to Teach Classically’, ‘How to Read & Respond to Great Literature’, and ‘How to Ask the Questions that will Change your Homeschool Forever.’
