About Jennifer Dow
Hi, my name is Jennifer Dow, creator of The 5 Elements of Classical Homeschooling Online Course for Moms, author of the Expanding Wisdom blog, co-host of The Classical Homeschool Podcast, and founder of The Paideia Fellowship Homeschool Community. I live in North Carolina along with my husband and three children and we like to spend our free time enjoying fairy-tales, great food, art, movies, sports, outdoors, and friends.
I am Orthodox Christian, wife, homeschooling mother, classical teacher, and artist. I have completed the CiRCE Apprenticeship program as a CiRCE certified Classical Teacher and have been teaching classically since 2009 in a variety of settings, including homeschooling my children, teaching local humanities and art classes throughout the homeschool community, and teaching online writing and literature classes at the CiRCE Academy.
I believe that “Classical Education is the cultivation of wisdom and virtue by nourishing the soul on truth, goodness, and beauty by means of the seven liberal arts and the four sciences.” (CiRCE’s definition) I love helping moms learn how to teach, study, and pursue wisdom and virtue in their homeschools.
My favorite things to study are Literature, church and educational history, Greek philosophy, and fine arts. If I was forced to choose, my favorite literary works are Beowulf, Tale of Two Cities, and Plato’s Dialogues. My favorite quote is “A poem cannot be about everything.” by Wendell Berry.
About Expanding Wisdom
Expanding Wisdom started as my little space online to post the VERY occasional article and my current course offerings for the local classical homeschooling community. Now, we are a classical learning center and community for homeschooling moms embracing and contemplating the good, the true, and the beautiful.
Expanding Wisdom, extending grace, that is our motto, because we desperately need to partake of both the breathtakingly beautiful and the daily hard work that faces each of us.
